w2k cubase5 vst-instruments latency

is there a way to reduce VST-instruments latency in cubase5? e.g. reaktor standalone works with about 30ms, but as VST-plugin it?s about 500ms, way too long. what can one do?

ok, i played around with all three asio-drivers for awhile.
asio-multimedia-drivers have a latency of min. 700ms. forget it.
asio direct-x full duplex has about 40ms, the only one that seems to be useful. but there are still dropouts sometimes.
the ews64-asio driver decided to remain silent or crackle like hell.
any experiences? is the ews-driver beta so we can hope?
